Contents: This intensive seminar course provides an overview of the specific strengths and limits of contemporary social scientific methodology. It examines the contrasts between natural and social scientific approaches to theory, data, evidence and explanation.

Through this course, students will also gain insight into how genetic, brain, and non-genetic factors (the environment) also influence language and reading and gain an understanding of the limits of different methodologies. Completion mode: The course consists of 16 hours of lectures in total including discussions during the lectures.

7 Preface Held in November, the 2014 Autumn Symposium of the Finnish Association for Applied Linguistics (AFinLA) featured as its theme Flows of language learning.
