This is a list of members of the United States Congress who practiced Judaism as a religion. It does not include members who had Jewish ancestry but were not religiously practicing. In the 115th Congress, there were 24 American Jews in the House and eight in the Senate; in the 116th Congress, which commenced on January 3, 2019, there are 27 in the House and eight in the Senate.
The office is somewhat analogous to that of the Clerk of the United States House of Representatives. The first secretary was chosen on April 8, 1789, two days after the Senate achieved its first quorum for business at the beginning of the 1st United States Congress.
